Tai Chi incorporates slow, deliberate movements, meditation, and breathing exercises to help your circulation, balance, and alignment while restoring energy. This is a low-impact martial art with amazing benefits. The Tai chi/Qigong class features study of the Yang style short form exercise, a Chinese discipline for health and self-mastery that uses slow fluid movements to achieve strength and balance and induce relaxation. Gentle breathing exercises are included for health and cultivation of a meditative state.

Gentle Yoga with Karen

We will integrate breath with movement and bring connection between the mind and body. By bringing awareness into the body, you can notice areas where tension is held and begin to relax them, helping to reduce pain in the body, improve flexibility, and decrease general stress throughout. This class is accessible to all levels- there are no arm balances or head standing, and poses can be modified for different bodies. This is your practice and you are in charge of what poses you do and how far you go into them. There are no judgments and you will receive compassionate support and acceptance; thereby, hopefully learning self-acceptance as you go. We use poses to learn about ourselves and to help our bodies as well as help us learn ways to improve our lives. Our hope is that you leave lighter, calmer, and feeling a connection to your own self, the group, and the source of your inner light.

Earth Day Gathering

You are invited to this year’s Earth Day Gathering, an annual celebration of the earth, our connection to it, and our connection to each other. This year the event will be held at Carrollton’s Longview Park on Longview St. near Hays Mill Rd. (There is overflow parking available at New Church @ Maple St. and Hays Mill after unloading) It is an outdoor event – rain or shine – so come prepared.

There will be a performance by Clear Rivers Chorus (starting about 5:30) leading up to the covered dish supper with turkey, salmon, tea, and spring water provided. Add your favorite dish and other beverages you might want. There are a few picnic tables but you might want to bring chairs for seating. Instruments for acoustic music will be welcome. Please join us and add the blessing of your energy to the day’s celebration.

***Please bring your own reusable plates, cups, and utensils to help keep trash down.***

A Morning of Yoga with Karen Sifton

Yoga and the Energy of Love
A Morning of Yoga with Karen Sifton
April 13th 9AM – 12:30PM

"The purpose of yoga is to facilitate the profound inner relaxation that accompanies fearlessness. The release from fear is what finally precipitates the full flowering of Love." - Erich Schiffman
Yoga involves working with Energy. Surrendering the physical blocks that inhibit the body. Letting go of the mental blocks that cause anxiety in the mind. Releasing the emotional blocks that produce fear in the heart. And it all starts with Presence. So join Karen for this morning of yoga and experience how we can begin the process of flowering the energy of Love on the mat: with mindfulness, non-judgment, and forgiveness.
(Attendance earns 3.5 CEU's with Yoga Alliance)
