These healing energy arts all involve conscious breathing, focused mind, and gentle movement for the use of the body for health and well-being. And all are offered at the Tallapoosa Wellness Collective studio, both in weekly group classes and private sessions. We also offer occasional weekend workshops that allow opportunities for deepening your practice and experiencing even greater levels of Energy.
We will integrate breath with movement and bring a connection between the mind and body. By bringing awareness into the body, you can notice areas where tension is held and begin to relax them, helping to reduce pain in the body, improve flexibility, and decrease general stress throughout. This class is accessible to all levels- there are no arm balances or head standing, and poses can be modified for different bodies. This is your practice and you are in charge of what poses you do and how far you go into them. There are no judgments and you will receive compassionate support and acceptance; thereby, hopefully learning self-acceptance as you go. We use poses to learn about ourselves and to help our bodies as well as help us learn ways to improve our lives. Our hope is that you leave lighter, calmer, and feeling a connection to your own self, the group, and the source of your inner light.
Meditation is a simple practice available to all, which can reduce stress, increase calmness and clarity and promote happiness. Learning how to meditate is straightforward, and the benefits can come quickly. Take a deep breath, and get ready to relax.
Tai Chi incorporates slow, deliberate movements, meditation, and breathing exercises to help your circulation, balance, and alignment while restoring energy. This is a low-impact martial art with amazing benefits. The Tai chi/Qigong class features study of the Yang style short form exercise, a Chinese discipline for health and self-mastery that uses slow fluid movements to achieve strength and balance and induce relaxation. Gentle breathing exercises are included for health and cultivation of a meditative state.
Yin yoga is based on the Taoist concept of yin and yang, opposite and complementary principles in nature. Yin is the stable, unmoving, hidden aspect of things; yang is the changing, moving, revealing aspect. In the body, the relatively stiff connective tissues (tendons, ligaments, fascia) are yin, while the more mobile and pliable muscles and blood are yang. A Yin Yoga class usually consists of a series of long-held passive floor poses that mainly work the lower part of the body-the hips, pelvis, inner thights, and lower spine.
This class uses creative yoga modules to combine cardio, stillness, and stretching in order to build strength and move dynamically! Cardio and strength-training bursts are broken up by lengthening, relaxing, and stillness positions. High-intensity interval training and continuous aerobic exercise programs improve the physiological and metabolic functions of the human body, and by incorporating a balance of these benefits with the benefits of yoga, this class provides a cardiovascular exercise that will lead to the student's physical improvement and performance while creating a dynamic, high vitality yoga practice.
